International Postgraduate Program for Recent Graduates

If you’ve recently completed your master’s or doctoral degree from a qualified British Columbia (B.C.) tertiary institution or if you are pursuing a PhD at a publicly funded B.C. educational institution, you could qualify for the BC Provincial Nominee Program’s (BC PNP) International Postgraduate stream. This pathway does not necessitate a job offer from an employer for application.

Qualifying Graduate Degrees

For master’s level programs: You can potentially meet the requirements for this pathway if you have successfully obtained a master’s degree from a B.C. post-secondary institution within the natural, applied, or health sciences disciplines that are eligible.

For doctoral level programs: You may meet the criteria for this stream if you have completed a doctoral degree, regardless of the field of study, at a publicly funded B.C. educational institution.

Additionally, eligibility for this stream can extend to PhD students, irrespective of their field of study, who are enrolled at a publicly funded B.C. educational institution and have achieved candidacy status.

Qualification Requirements

In order to be eligible for this program, you must meet the following criteria:

Recent Graduate Education: You should have completed a graduate-level education program from a recognized institution in British Columbia within the last three years.

Immigration Status: You must either possess legal immigration status in Canada or be eligible for it.

Intent to Settle in B.C.: It is essential to demonstrate your intent and ability to establish yourself economically by living and working in British Columbia.

Please note that individuals with regulatory or professional doctorates like Juris Doctor (J.D.) and Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) are not eligible for this specific stream.

Additionally, if you are considering the Express Entry BC option, you must have an IRCC Express Entry Profile Number and a Job Seeker Validation Code.
