The Subclass 891 visa was a permanent residency visa for individuals who held a qualifying Investor Retirement (subclass 405) or Retirement (subclass 410) visa and wanted to apply for permanent residency in Australia. To be eligible for the Subclass 891 visa, applicants needed to meet certain criteria related to their investment and residence history in Australia.

Eligibility Criteria For SubClass 891 Visa

  • Visa Eligibility: You must possess the Subclass 162 – Investor (Provisional) visa based on satisfying the primary criteria.
  • Residence Requirement: Reside in Australia under the Subclass 162 visa for a cumulative total of at least 2 years within the 4 years immediately prior to application. Continuous residence is not necessary.
  • Age Limit: No age limit applies to this visa category.
  • Business Requirements:
    • Hold a designated investment of AUD1.5 million for at least 4 years.
    • The investment must have been made for the Subclass 162 visa requirement.
    • Demonstrate a genuine commitment to continuing business or investment activity in Australia.
    • No history of unacceptable business activities.
  • Health Requirement:
    • You and accompanying family members must meet the health requirement.
    • Medical exams are not required until instructed.
  • Character Requirement:
    • You and family members over 16 applying for the visa must meet the character requirement.
    • Family members not accompanying you to Australia also need to meet this requirement.
  • Australian Values Statement:
    • Applicants aged 18 and above must read or understand ‘Life in Australia.’
    • Confirm commitment to Australian way of life and laws by signing the Australian Values Statement.
  • Debt to Australian Government: Clear any debts owed to the Australian Government, including those by non-applicant family members.
  • Visa History: Previous visa cancellations or refusals will be considered in the application process.
  • Permanent Visa Possibility: Under specific conditions, you may still apply for a permanent visa even with a history of visa cancellation or refusal.
