    Eligibility Criteria

    • Recent Permanent Resident: if you have obtained permanent residency in Canada within the past ten years.
    • Protected Person/Refugee Status: Individuals with protected person or refugee status are eligible for Career Paths.
    • Selected for Permanent Residence: If you have been selected for permanent residence in Canada, you meet the eligibility requirements.
    • Work Experience (Stream 1 and 2): For Stream 1 and Stream 2, you need to have a minimum of one year of work experience in your home country.
    • Work Experience (Stream 3): In Stream 3, you should either have two years of work experience in your home country or one year of pre-arrival work experience in your home country if you are 30 years old or younger.
    • English Language Proficiency: Eligibility requires an intermediate to advanced level of English language proficiency.
    • Unemployment or Underutilized Skills: If you are currently unemployed or working in a job that doesn’t utilize your skills and training from your home country, you are eligible for Career Paths.

    • This stream comprises skilled occupations that may require individuals to undergo recertification in order to work in British Columbia.
    • The recertification process is overseen by a regulatory body responsible for ensuring individuals meet the necessary standards and qualifications.
    • British Columbia has over 280 jobs subject to regulations, requiring individuals to obtain certifications. It aids those seeking employment in regulated professions not covered by Stream 1, offering an alternative career advancement route support including:
      • Career Counseling: Tailored guidance for your profession.
      • Financial Aid: Funding for skill upgrades and language training.
      • Exam Prep: Assistance for certification exams.
      • Comprehensive Support: Enhance success in B.C.’s regulated job market.
    • Within this stream, you’ll find skilled occupations where certification may not be mandatory.
    • Individuals pursuing careers in unregulated occupations may not be required to obtain specific certifications or licenses.
    • This program provides a potential duration of up to 12 months to aid you in achieving your career objectives. The support available under Stream 3 encompasses:
      • Tailored career counseling to your specific profession.
      • Financial support for skill improvement, encompassing language training if necessary.
      • Additional forms of support designed to enhance your chances of success in British Columbia.
