To be eligible for this stream, applicants must have already submitted their profile through one of the “Federal – Express Entry” online application programs: Canadian Experience Class (CEC), Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), or Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP). The Government of Alberta directly nominates applicants to meet the growing job market demand. An additional 600 points are added to their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, almost guaranteeing an invitation to apply for permanent residency in the next Express Entry draw. The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) conducts regular draws from the Federal Express Entry pool, selecting candidates based on specific in-demand occupations. Candidates with ties to Alberta and the necessary skills to contribute to the province’s economic growth may be asked to apply.
Candidates with Express Entry profiles may receive a Notification of Interest (NOI) letter from the Alberta government through the federal system. Invited candidates have a limited time to express their interest in applying to be considered for selection under this stream. If accepted, individuals will be contacted by the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) and asked to upload the required documents through the AAIP web interface.
Based on the profile information available on the Federal Express Entry portal, Alberta can select applicants and then issue a Notification of Interest letter (NOIs) or invitations on the federal Express Entry profile to apply for the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AAIP). Starting this year, the AAIP will issue NOIs based on the following priorities:

AAIP selects individuals who have experience in occupations that are in demand in Alberta. They employ one or more of the following approaches to determine this:
Priority is given to candidates with a valid job offer from a legitimate business in Alberta.
Family connections are assessed based on the relationship to the principal applicant (in-laws are not eligible). Eligibility is determined by verifiable and supported connections or relationships with the principal applicant (parent, child, or sibling) through essential documents.
AAIP will use 30% of Express Entry allocations in 2023 for category-based selections of individuals:
The NOC codes are used to define a variety of occupations. AAIP will require additional information from applicants on the position mentioned in the job offer as well as the regulatory agency’s documentation of the ability to perform the health professions that are eligible in Alberta to verify that the applicant is qualified to practice under this route.
Healthcare professions that are eligible under this path and the relevant regulatory agency responsible for the proof of capability for practice in Alberta include:
