About GRE

The GRE is a standardized test required for graduate program admissions. It is taken by individuals pursuing master's or doctoral degrees and is accepted by many programs worldwide. It can be taken at test centers or at home, and scores are valid for up to five years. Preparation involves studying, practicing sample questions, and familiarizing oneself with the test format. The GRE measures skills in three main areas:

  • Verbal Reasoning: Evaluates a candidate's ability to understand and analyze written material, as well as their vocabulary skills.

  • Verbal Reasoning: Measures the candidate's critical thinking and writing skills through two essays, one analyzing an issue and the other analyzing an argument.

Exam pattern

Verbal Reasoning Two sections with 20 questions each 30 minutes allotted to each section allowing 1-4 minutes to address each question
Quantitative Reasoning (70 minutes) Two sections with 20 questions each • 35 minutes allotted to each section allowing 1.5-2 minutes to address each question
Analytical Writing Assessment (60 mins) Two essays based on issue & argument • 30 minutes allotted to write each essay
Total Time 3 hours, 45 minutes
